ftp vs ftps
=============================================================
Enabling Secure FTP for a Captured Store
Secure FTP (FTPS) builds on the standard FTP protocol by adding strong encryption and authentication methods, providing secure password management and encrypted file content between the client and the server. Matrix can be used to communicate via secure FTP using the secure FTP server provided by the Stanford Secure Remote Password (SRP) Authentication Project.
! ENOVIA MatrixOne has qualified the secure FTP support using version 1.7.2 of the SRP server on the HP platform only.
The main tasks for configuring Matrix to support secure FTP are:
1 - Download and install the OpenSSL toolkit.
2 - Download and set up the SRP version 1.7.2 server.
3 - Configure Matrix as a secure FTP client by defining a secure FTP store.

Re: ftp vs ftps

Re: ftp vs ftps
sur theLink :
An important note about the terminology: There are 2 different but
similarly named secure ftp protocols, "sftp" and "ftps".
We do not support "sftp" protocol at all.
We do support "ftps" and provide a version of the mxftp library (the one
named "mxftps.so") in order to do that. Implementation instructions are
in the "System Manager Guide" in the core MatrixOne docs.
The above is for the Matrix client side. You will obviously need a
server also.
For secure ftp *servers* we have tested using the SRP product, on HPUX
and Solaris, but not Windows or other platforms.
We have no reason to believe that there will be any problems running our
product with ftps enabled, against a secure ftp server on Windows.
So, we will support you, meaning that we will field your questions /
incident reports about our product, even though the SRP ftp server (or,
some other 3rd part ftp server that understands the ftps protocol) is
running on Windows, or Linux, etc.
If we need to run tests here, we will use whatever we have available
internally (such as the ones in use in our QE group), so please note
that.
We will be unable to guide in installing or configuring any of the 3rd
party ftp servers, however.
